The Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) of Jackson County isn't the latest organization to receive a retired ambulance from Mercy Flights — that distinction goes to the National Park Service at Crater Lake, which received a vehicle from this Medford-based provider of air and ground ambulance services just days ago.

Shortly after 5:30 on Monday evening, as Tarkington Volunteer Fire Department Assistant Chief Evert Doucette was returning home from work, he came across a motor vehicle accident on SH 105 at CR 2234 that had occurred only minutes before.  He used the radio in his truck to contact Cleveland Police Department dispatchers and have Tarkington VFD and City of Cleveland EMS dispatched to the scene.  ...
